I was somewhat let down by this toy. My daughter enjoys spy games, so I thought she would love this voice changer, but it didn’t meet my expectations. I assumed it would change your voice in real time as you spoke, but that’s not the case. You have to record your voice first and then use a slider to alter it afterward. I tried using the slider while recording, and although I did sound different, it was noticeable when the slider was moving. It feels and operates like a cheap toy, and while you can make it work, its functionality is quite limited.

It’s easy to use—just press and hold to record, then play it back while adjusting the speed with a slider. The speed affects both the pitch and playback. This voice changer brings back memories of the Talk Boy from Home Alone 2. Instead of altering your voice in real time like a movie spy, you record your voice and then adjust its pitch to make it sound higher or lower.
My newly turned 6-year-old has been using it sporadically since we gifted it to him. He finds it fun, but only in short sessions, which is ideal for us.
It’s lightweight and quite simple to use. Just a heads up, it doesn’t come with batteries, so keep that in mind.

This toy is surprisingly complicated for kids to use. The voice-changing feature merely slows down your voice, lowering its tone. To activate it, you have to press the record button while simultaneously sliding another button on the opposite side. If you stop sliding the button at any time, the recording ends. Essentially, it functions only as a recorder, with no option for real-time voice alteration, which means you can’t hold a conversation with a modified voice. While it has potential, it ultimately falls short of expectations.
